  • Backup Policy - Information on what files and folders are backed up.
  • Cadence - An application commonly used in the EE department. You can use this program through our computational servers.

  • Computer Access Groups - Access to Research Computers is granted through Computer Access Groups.

  • ENGR - The name of the Engineering domain
  • Fileshare - for sharing files with those not affiliated with BCOE
  • Forwarding - Email is forwarded to your university email address. This can be changed.
  • Home Directory - Your profile settings and personal files are stored here. They are backed up by the server. There is a quota for how large this folder may become.
  • IP Address - If you do not know how to find your computer's IP Address, this page can help.
  • Logging In - Instructions for logging in to ENGR computers.
  • Mail - Information on your ENGR email account.
  • Mapping the Z Drive - When you log onto Windows, your home directory is mapped to the Z drive so that you can access your personal files. In order to access your home directory from a remote location, you will have to connect through the VPN and map your Z drive.
  • Microsoft Dreamspark - Microsoft's program that offers free software to UCR students.
  • Password Changes - The security policies required for an ENGR password, as well as instructions for changing your password.
  • Putty - Putty is a free application that can be used to initiate SSH connections with the ENGR servers
  • Printing - Information on how to print to the ENGR printers, as well as quota, access, and paper policies.
  • Quota (Z Drive) - Your Home Directory (Z Drive) is limited in size by a quota. This quota can be checked.
  • Remote File Server Access - Accessing the VPN and Mapping personal network drives and Departmental servers to your machine.
  • Research Labs - After logging into the system (by following the link), users can request access to labs by searching for the lab's PI.
  • Security - Precautions and rules for the use of account passwords.
  • SCP - Free software that allows the secure transfer of files from either a remote computer to your home directory or vice versa.

  • Web Site Creation - A Personal Web Page is provided to each ENGR account. Research Groups can have CMS pages created.
